Description
Ginut natural hazelnut kernels are Giresun hazelnuts in their plainest form: shelled and then left alone, with no roasting and no heat of any kind. What you taste is the nut itself — gently sweet and milky, softer and less crisp than a roasted kernel. That makes them the ingredient to reach for when you want to set the roast yourself, turn hazelnuts into milk or butter, or simply eat them raw. The 250 g pack is a comfortable amount for a first try, or for one recipe with room to spare.
Why Start with Raw Kernels
- Unroasted and unprocessed hazelnut kernels.
- 100% Giresun hazelnuts, with no added salt, sugar, oil or additives.
- How dark the roast goes is your decision.
- A natural base for hazelnut milk, homemade nut butter and granola.
- A better fit than roasted nuts for bakes that go into the oven anyway.
- 250 g: sized for trying them out or for a single recipe.
Two Basics to Try First
Roasting at home. Preheat the oven to 160-170 °C and spread the kernels over a tray in one layer. Give them 12-15 minutes, stirring once at the halfway point, and take them out as soon as the skins look darker and start to crack. Wrap them in a clean cloth while still warm and rub: most of the skins will come off. Because the nuts keep cooking for a while after leaving the oven, taking them out slightly early is better than too late.
Hazelnut milk. Leave one part hazelnuts to soak overnight, drain them, then blend with four parts fresh water and pour through a fine cloth. A pinch of salt, a date or a touch of vanilla can go in if you like. It lasts a few days in the fridge; it will separate as it stands, which is normal, so give it a shake before serving.
Once you have those two down, blend the kernels for long enough and you get a nut butter with nothing added. Raw kernels can also go into granola uncooked, toasting as the mix bakes, or be scattered just as they are over salads and smoothie bowls.

How to Store Raw Kernels
Without roasting, kernels are more easily affected by moisture, so seal them in a jar and choose a cupboard that is cool, dry and dark. If they will be around for more than a month, the fridge is the safer option, and for really long storage use the freezer.
Common Questions
Can I eat natural hazelnuts without roasting them?
Of course. Expect a milkier, softer flavour and less crunch than a roasted nut. Roasting is what concentrates the aroma and adds crispness, so for snacking straight from the bowl roasted kernels suit better, while raw ones shine as an ingredient.
Should I roast the kernels before they go into a cake?
There is no need. Cakes and cookies spend time in the oven anyway, which roasts the nuts, so raw kernels give the truer result.
Can I cook with kernels straight from the freezer?
Yes. They can go into the oven or into a recipe without being thawed first.
