Hazelnut Paste

Ginut hazelnut paste is made by grinding roasted Giresun hazelnuts. There is no palm oil, no vegetable oil, no milk powder, no cocoa, no emulsifier, no flavouring and no preservative in the jar. Two versions are available: the classic paste at 70% hazelnuts and 30% sugar, and a single-ingredient 100% hazelnut butter with no sugar added. All of them come in glass.
How to Choose
- Sweetened (70% hazelnut) — 180 g, 300 g and 640 g; the sweet spread children ask for.
- Sugar-free (100% hazelnut) — 160 g, 300 g and 600 g; no added sugar, suitable for vegans.
- The small jar is for trying, the large one for regular use — the recipe is identical across sizes.
- If you prefer to set the sweetness yourself, stir honey or date paste into the sugar-free jar.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is hazelnut paste the same as hazelnut spread?
Not usually. Most commercial spreads contain cocoa, milk powder and palm oil, with a low proportion of nuts. Halisella contains hazelnuts and, in the sweetened version, sugar — nothing else.
Why is there oil on top of the jar?
That is the hazelnut's own oil. With no emulsifier in the jar it separates over time; that is what additive-free production looks like, not spoilage. Stir it back down with a clean, dry spoon.
